Biography

Phillip Barlow

Philip Barlow studied art at the University of Utah earning a BFA degree.

Philip Barlow’s life has been about art from days as a youth - through tomorrow. He describes art as an obsession, a challenge, and an adventure of all adventures.

Philip began a career in Graphic Design. Owning his Graphic Design Firm established in 1963; 34 years working in the design field was challenging and rewarding. 

Philip Barlow was involved with the Utah Watercolor Society during his professional graphic design years. He was a member of the Watercolor Society and eventually motivated to volunteer for the board of directors; he eventually was voted into serving as president of the Utah Watercolor Society for a few terms. During the same years, involved in his expanding business career… Philip found the time to paint with watercolors, acrylic and oil paints; also found time to exhibit his paintings in New Mexico, Wyoming, California and Utah.

Philip Barlow has paintings in fine private collections and corporate collections; his collectors are found across the United States.

Philip Barlow has some rules he follows in life by way of his “Art Career”:

“Rules are made to be broken”… “I must continue to entertain my audience”… “I must have fun in my mind and in my brush”… “I will never paint the perfect picture”… “I must listen to my critics, but feel free to ignore them”… “I must have the courage to destroy a bad concept that will not work”…

“Art is my life and I will always keep looking for another adventure.”
